Rules

Read these before the captains meeting. The tournament committee has final say on all decisions.

Format & Scoring

  • Three fish triple challenge: redfish, trout and flounder.
  • Three fish weighed beats two fish weighed beats any single fish weighed.
  • A fish can only be weighed in one category — for example, a redfish counts toward the triple challenge or junior angler, lady angler or big fish, not several.
  • The big fish calcutta can be any of the three species.
  • In the event of a tie, the boat that weighs in first will be declared the winner.

Fishing

  • Fishing is from safe light to 3:00 p.m. on tournament day.
  • All anglers must be in line to weigh at 3:00 p.m. — no exceptions.
  • All fish must be caught from a boat on tournament day during tournament hours.
  • All fish must be caught with rod and reel.
  • Maximum of four anglers per boat.
  • No more than four fishing rods in the water at any time.
  • Nothing can be passed between boats after the tournament begins.
  • Anglers must maintain a 100 yard distance between boats.
  • Boundaries are any public waters in Florida, with the tip of the jetties as the maximum eastern boundary.
  • Boats may put in at any boat ramp.

Weigh-In

  • All fish must be brought to the weigh-in by boat at Palm Valley Outdoors, with the boat number, to be weighed.
  • All fish must be of legal size as determined by the weighmaster.
  • Mutilated fish will be disqualified.
  • There is a 1 lb penalty per fish for any dead fish weighed in.

Anglers & Safety

  • All anglers must have a valid fishing license, if required.
  • All anglers must abide by all state and local fishing regulations.
  • Anglers must wear a lifejacket when the boat is under power and running.
  • A junior angler is 16 years of age or less on the tournament date, and must be accompanied by an adult who accepts responsibility for their safety.
  • Captains are responsible for the safe and legal operation of their boats and crew. By signing up and paying for tournament entry, captains agree to abide by tournament rules and hold the tournament harmless from all damage or injury resulting from participating in the tournament.

Entry & Weather

  • There will be no refunds of entry fees under any circumstances.
  • The weather day is October 11, 2026. Postponing will be at the discretion of the tournament committee based on weather conditions and safety.
